Stroom Library sessions: Verena Blok

A lively conversation about reproduction, motherhood, feminism, intersectionality, and the complexity of being a woman.

Date: 19 January 2026
Location: library Stroom Den Haag, Hogewal 1-9, The Hague

Participants: Verena Blok, Dayna Casey, Annemarie Wadlow, Esther Eliane Bots, Carmen Dusmet Carrasco, Katerina Sidorova and Yanxian Zhao

The invited guest for the first Library Session of 2026 was The Hague–based artist Verena Blok, following the recent launch of her publication Love Shit. The book explores self-determination, love, and the “shit” that can sometimes come with it. Verena brought along a number of publications that have been important sources of knowledge and inspiration for her artistic practice and for the new book.

The book, her research, and her working methods provided many points of departure for an open, personal, and highly engaged conversation with fellow artists. Topics ranged from womanhood, motherhood, and the practice of being an artist to the process of making a book. More information about Love Shit and the other books discussed can be found via the link to the PDF in the sidebar.
