Brochure accompanying the similar titled exhibition at Post, Nijmegen (Feb. 28 - May 3, 2026). States of Violence focused on the decline of infrastructures that serve as guardrails to prevent violence, such as democracy, legislation, and independent media. Using personal stories, propaganda, (social) media, and design, the artists explored how political, religious, and cultural violence is mediated, investigated, censored, or communicated. Should we ask ourselves how we ended up in this ‘state of violence’? Or can we, by better understanding its complexity, resist it and bring about a more peaceful future?
