Zefir7 Maandelijks ontwerperscafé i.s.m. BNO. Deze keer Type on Tuesday met presentaties van (graphic designers en letterontwerpers) Farah Fayyad en Mălin Neamțu.

Farah Fayyad is a graphic designer and printmaker from Beirut, Lebanon. Classically trained in calligraphy, Farah strives to preserve the traditional structure and behaviour of the Arabic script while experimenting with tools and form. Her practice aims to produce contemporary Arabic typography that draws on the past without strictly following its stylistic conventions. Fayyad’s work primarily lies in the cultural sector, with a special focus on bilingual editorial design. Her practice also involves a lot of play with screen-printing in terms of experimentation, teaching and publicly performing the craft as interventions or performances. She is currently based between Beirut and Amsterdam.

Mălin Neamțu is an independent type and graphic designer originally from Bucharest and currently based in The Hague. He recently graduated from the Type and Media program with his experimental project Segmentor, a variable font that breaks with many conventions and is designed to react to sound, bringing together his passion for music and type. Alongside his design practice, Mălin plays drums and bass in various metal and punk bands across Europe.
