299 792 458 m/s magazine was created in New York City in 2016 by Robert Kulisek and David Lieske. Its inaugural issue, nr 1, , 'The American Issue', brings together a large variety of contemporary photographers, stylists, artists and designers with a focus on a transatlantic network that heavily influences the current fashion discourse. 299 792 458 m/s was inspired by Sibylle, the only fashion publication in existence during the former German Democratic Republic. As a meta-fashion magazine, Sibylle operated with minimal access to Western designer clothes, and opened up historical possibilities into uncharted territories of fashion photography Issue nr 2 ed. by Avean Gallagher, Mathew Linde, was published accompanying the exhibtion 'The Overworked Body: An Anthology of 2000s Dress at MINI/Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38 and Mathew Gallery, New York (10 September – 15 October 2017). Situating itself in between a historic fashion magazine and a classic exhibition catalogue,'The Overworked Body Issue. An Anthology of 2000s dress' magazine extends the exhibitions central question: How to define a recent history of fashion? An international cast of photographers, models and stylists contributed to the issue through fashion editorials and conceptual advertisements, staging and re-interpreting milestones in 2000s fashion, using a pool of nearly 300 garments that were collected for the exhibition.
